Here's some guidance for using Photobucket:
After your account is created and your pics are uploaded on PB, the easiest way to post them here on the Flightdeck is:
1) Move your cursor over the pic.
2) Go to the "IMG Code" box that appears in the menu below the pic and highlight (copy) all the text in that box.
3) On here, go to the "Img" button that appears above the text box in the post that you want to make. Click on that, and you should see [img] [img/].
4) Insert that highlighted text in between these two boxes (in between the two innermost brackets), and paste it.
Note- after inserting this text, make sure that the capitalized IMG boxes (at the beginning of the link and at the end) are removed; otherwise all you will get is a little red x and a description of the pic.
It doesn't seem to be too hard to do, like anything it just takes some getting some used to.
The format (for the copy and pasted text) for a properly inserted PB upload should look like this prior to posting-
[img]http://i398.photobucket.com/albums/pp67/CVW-104/DSC.XXXX.jpg[img/]
(Obviously, the text is going to match the details of YOUR account).
Also, if you have to resize your pic, do so in Photobucket prior to posting. Even though we won't be getting those annoying side bars on the pics, the full pic will not be viewable if the original is too large.
Resizing info- while in PB, hit "Edit" and then "Resize". The size of your photo (in pixels) will show up at the top (for example 1024 X 768, which are the size of my pics). I go in and resize these to 683 X 512 (a reduction of about 33%); and then hit the "Replace Original" button. After that, I click on the "Rename" function, and the photo is saved to my album.
After these steps have been accomplished, the pics are ready for posting on DFD.
Right now, I am HIGHLY ENCOURAGING EVERYONE to have a separate account on a photo site (PB, Flickr, etc) for their pics; at a date TBD this requirement will become mandatory for those wishing to post pics.
Anyone else who can help clarify these instructions, please do so. Also, those of you who are using other photo hosting sites, please post some guidance as to how others on here can get set up and start posting their pics.
Thank you very much!
